Friday Funnies: Which is Easier? Replacing a Watch Battery or an Icemaker?
4 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, February 19, 2010Jeff favorite motto is "if something is broken and it can be fixed, why replace it?". It was no surprise to me when his watch battery died, he went to Walmart to replace it. The guy behind the jewelry counter said he was not authorize to change out watch batteries.
If it were me, I would have brought a new $16.00 digital watch to avoid the trouble driving around town looking for a jeweler who would replace the battery for me. Not Jeff, he decided to purchase the battery and do it himself. When we returned home, he replaced the battery and the watch went "bonkers". After many failed attempts, Jeff gave up and brought himself a new watch.
Our icemaker was producing ice nonstop. Not only that, it had a small leak. Once a week, I had to use my heat gun (hair dryer) to melt chunks of ice. If I went a week without it, I had a 3" block of ice that I had to chip away. Tired of this repetitous chore, I gave up and allowed the ice cubes to overflow to the point the machine wasn't producing anymore ice. At this point, Jeff decided to fix/replace the icemaker. After finding the kit at Lowes, he took on the task of "do-it-yourself" and saved on the repair bill.
LOL, Jeff can fix a icemaker, but unable to fix his watch !!!

Friday Funnies: More money for Food
4 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, January 08, 2010The Sunday school teacher asked her pupils to write down their weekly prayer requests. Millie asked for more money, so there would be more food in the house. Hoping that the church would want to help Millie's family, the teacher gave the request to the preacher.
Concerned about the request, the preacher approached Millie's grandpa the following Sunday. He said that the church was praying for Millie's family. If they needed food, they could come to the church's food bank on Fridays. Looking at grandpa's expression, the preacher thought grandpa might have been embarrassed about the sensitive matter. After the preacher told Grandpa about Millie's prayer request , grandpa had a good chuckle. When the chuckle subsided, grandpa ensured the preacher that the family was doing fine. Because Millie's 3 brothers were hearty eaters, the pantry and fridged were constantly bare.

Friday Funnies: What Goes in a Mind of a Child ?
1 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, December 11, 2009was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister.... After a while he asked: 'Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?'
MELANIE (age 5)
asked her Granny how old she was.. Granny replied she was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't remember you must look in the back of your panties.. Mine say five to six.'
STEVEN (age 3)
hugged and kissed his Mom good night. 'I love you so much that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window.'
BRITTANY (age 4)
had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'
SUSAN (age 4)
was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough..'
DJ (age 4)
stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: 'How much do I cost?'
CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?'
MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'
TAMMY(age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'
JAMES (age 4)was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What happened to the flea?'
The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget
...
This particular Sunday sermon....'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Friday Funnies: Jesus Saves
10 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Thursday, February 26, 2009
Jesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.
Finally fed up, God said, 'THAT'S IT! I have had enough. I am going to set up a test that will run for two hours, and from those results, I will judge who does the better job.'
So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away.
They moused.
They faxed.
They e-mailed.
They e-mailed with attachments.
They downloaded.
They did spreadsheets!
They wrote reports.
They created labels and cards.
They created charts and graphs.
They did some genealogy reports.
They did every job known to man.
Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.
Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off.
Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld.
Jesus just sighed.
Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming:
'It's gone! It's all GONE! I lost everything when the power went out!'
Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work.
Satan observed this and became irate.
'Wait!' he screamed. 'That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?'
God just shrugged and said, "JESUS SAVES...."

Friday Funnies on Marriage
10 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, January 09, 2009
Marrying a man is like buying something you've been admiring for a long time in a show window. You may love it when you get it home, but it doesn't always go with everything in the house.-- Jean Kerr

Friday Funnies: Mixed Blessings
11 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, December 12, 2008"I wouldn't know what to say," she replied.
"Just say what you hear Mom say," my son piped up.
Dear daughter bowed her head and said," Dear Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to lunch?" (original story was published in Don't Stop Laughing Now. It has been modified by me.)

Friday Funnies: Adam's Bargain
10 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, December 05, 2008
Adam was walking around the Garden of Eden feeling very lonely, so God asked Adam, "What is wrong with you?"
Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to.
God said,"I was going to give you a companion, and it would a woman."
God continued:"This person will cook for you and wash your clothes. She will always agree with every decision you make. She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will not nag you, and will always be the first to admit she was wrong, when you've had a disagreement. She will never have a headache, and will freely give you love and compassion whenever needed."
Adam asked God," What would a woman like this cost me?"
God said,"An arm and a leg."
Adam asked, "What can I get for a rib?"

Friday Funnies: Homade Gravy
9 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Wednesday, November 26, 2008
I've been reading several Friday Funnies, and thought I would join in this week. For more Friday Funnies, click on the clipart. The gravy was another story. Seeing Mom making Dad's favorite dish (biscuits drizzled with cream of mushroom soup), I decided to try her recipe. After pouring a small amount of soup over a biscuit, I gave Prince Charming his weekend breakfast. He was in for a big surprise when he realized that the gravy did not taste anything like his grandmother's. After a shock and a good laugh, he lovingly explained to me that homemade gravy and cream of mushroom soup are not the same thing.

Friday Funnies: A Hobo went to school
3 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, November 21, 2008
Knowing that Sassy's classmates were going to get lots of candy on Halloween night, her mom, Lianne didn't want to add more candy to their loot. Dressed in smelly, ragged clothes, she came to class filled with tricks and a pocket full of treats. Lianne appeared to have protruded teeth, a dirty face , and a bad odor permeating from her body. Because she had dog hair around her face, the kids did not recognize her. When she approached the children with her treats, cooked brocolli and hard boiled eggs, the children backed away. When a child lost a tooth, she asked the teacher if she could go see the nurse. Lianne grabbed the tooth and dipped it in the punch. She then offered drinks to the kids. Needless to say, no one drank the punch. Some had a feeling that it was Sassy's mom, but they weren't sure. Surprisingly, Sassy played along and didn't give a clue of who the hobo was.
A half an hour before the school ended, Lianne rushed home quickly to shower, so she could return to school to pick up Sassy. When Lianne met Sassy and her friends at the bus stop, they asked she was in their class earlier. Lianne just smiled and said,"me? I've been at home all day getting ready for Sassy's dad to come home from a trip".

Friday Funnies: Flirtatous Hairdresser
8 comments Posted by Speaking from the Heart at Friday, November 14, 2008
While cutting Prince Charming's hair, the hairdresser made small talks and undoubtedly was being flirtatious. Before finishing the cut, she asked him what were his plans for the afternoon. The question took him by surprise. He wondered what were her ulterior motives behind the question. When he told her he planned to go shopping for an anniversary gift, she got really quiet."She was trying to comfort me, " he said with a grin on his face.
"That poor woman thought you were in denial when you told her you were buying a gift for your (dead) wife," I retorted.
