Speaking from the Heart

Minnie has always liked to write and draw. This year, she started writing poems in her journal. Some of her poems are deep, for a nine-year old. With her permission, I am able to publish them.

Blind and Deaf (October 2006)
Beauty and love are no compare to the blind and deaf. Deafend by sound, blind by faith,
But both are cared for (by God) day by day.

Gone (November 2006)
I woke up one day to try and find my Mother.
I ran to her room, but she was not there.
When father told me the news, I cried.
To find my Mother gone was horrified,
and to be taken by a heart-attack.
Then I found out it was a dream.

Getting Ready for a Day AheadI brushed my teeth; I made my bed;And now I am ready for the day ahead.

This Saturday morning began with Joyland Christmas play rehearsal at the church. Minnie has one of the leading roles. A month ago, The Inquisitor told me that he wanted to volunteer with the play. I was apprehensive about it. Because The Inquisitor could not stand/sit still, he had made the teacher nervous during last summer's Vacation Bible School. The same teacher was teaching choir. I told him that if he was going to volunteer, he needs to slow down, especially around the teacher.

Mark took my words to heart. A month into his volunteer work, the teacher told me that Mark was an asset to the play. He helped out with a smile on his face. He could be depended on. Finally, he didn't have to wait for an instruction, if he saw something that needed to be done, he took it upon himself and do it. If he was in doubt, he would ask a teacher.
