Dear Daughter was invited to an unforgettable birthday party. The party started at 10:08 and did not end until 8:00 P.M. Hannah's mom planned a neighborhood scavenger hunt. Each group was given a lists. The party members had to go around the neighborhoood asking for items that were on their lists.
Besides playing many games through out the day, the guests had a 3 course(mystery) meal. From a menu,each child must choose his eating utensils, drinks, and food. The menu was in code; therefore, the kids did not know what they were getting until their meals were served. Katherine chose a wooden straw (stick) for her utensil. Her first course meal consisted of cold cow (ice cream), and elbow grease (macroni & cheese). Because she didn't have a utensil to eat the ice cream, she had to "lap" them up.
Around 7:30, the guests were ready to go home with their fun-filled goodies and pictures of themselves with the birthday girl.

Dear Mark and Katherine,
I know it was not easy living with me this past month. You were the ones who had to take end-of the-year evaluation tests, so why was I stressed out. Maybe I was a little hard on you, when you didn't remember how to do a simple problem. I was afraid that I might have missed teaching a concept or two. You continued to remind me that I had nothing to worry about.
You were absolutely right. Your reading skills excelled 3 grades, since May 2006. Mark, you went from a 9th grade to a college freshman reading level. Katherine, you jumped from a 6th grade to a 9th grade reading level. I have to credit this accelerated reading skills to my Aunt Debbie, who planted this seed. When her kids were younger, she encouraged them to read during the summer. After I overheard her telling grandpa that reading is an important life skills, I told myself that when I have kids, my kids will learn to enjoy reading. Your overall tests were awesome.
Mark, you topped the evaluator's test. Because, you scored 12+ grade level. She recommends that you take the PSAT anually. Katherine, if you were placed in a sixth grade class, you would be able to handle the work. On the other hand, you probably would get bored, because the work will not be not be challenged enough for you. I am so proud of your accomplishments. Until evaluation 2008, I will try to be less stressful.
